The self help movement is just growing! Everywhere we look it seems to be.. do this exercise, eat this way and think this way…
But whats the point of it all? Is it really necessary to fill our days with just more things to do or do “right”?
It all comes down to intention.. why are YOU doing these things? Because you were told to?
If you’re doing it all because you “should” then it probably won’t last and it probably won’t bring many benefits…
When we focus outwards on the “shoulds” of the world…what should I be doing and eating, how should I behave, how much should I be earning, we only end up disgruntled, feeling like even though we are doing all of these things we..still..are..not..happy!
Thats because these things wont make you happy..
Hang on.. what??

Doing these things wont make you happy..
You see the purpose of bringing your attention inwards, allowing your mind to be peaceful with meditation, awakening your body with yoga or eating to nourish your internal self is because that is what is authentically you!
Our natural state is not to rush around, being concerned with the dramas of people we have never met and will probably never meet, push ourselves to the limits of exhaustion and eat food which is made in laboratories…. THIS is what makes us unhappy.
Your mind, however will have seen the ads on television which say these things will make you happy though! So you believe they will..
Just like the vitamin pill will help you swing your blond beachy hair around a field and butterflies will land on your perfectly nourished skin.
When we bring ourselves back to what is natural for us..
then that is when we feel content! We are able to listen to our bodies and hear what they want to function at their healthiest and happiest.
The self help movement has some great tips and tools, just find what works for you,
because the purpose is not to create perfection… but to be true to ourselves.
